Choose the exact exam for which you are preparing. Rules for mistakes and timing will automatically adjust to that exam pattern.
Pick English or Hindi based on your paper. Font, keyboard logic and mistake checking change as per language.
Fix test time as per your exam pattern (e.g. 5, 10, 15 minutes). The timer will start the moment you begin typing.
Select the book and chapter / paragraph from which you want to practice. We use commonly recommended exam books and official passages.
Place your fingers correctly and start typing or transcribing the passage. Do not look at the keyboard. Follow exam rules for:
When time is over or you finish early, click Submit. Your typing is immediately checked against the original passage.
Switch between book-based practice, custom text and full exam simulations. Each mode is designed to target a specific skill area.
Practise directly from standard exam books and official passages to match real-paper difficulty and style.
Paste any paragraph or official notice and practise on your own customised text.
Full exam-like environment with fixed time, automatic submit and strict mistake rules.
Special mode designed to understand and remove repeated mistakes from your typing.
Small corrections in technique can create a big difference in your final speed and accuracy.
Focus on building a clean and consistent typing style before chasing very high speeds.
Stenography requires smart practice with clear rules, not just raw speed.
Understanding checking logic is as important as speed. Steno Exam Master follows exam-oriented rules for both English and Hindi papers.
In government exams, wrong use of capital letters is generally treated as a full mistake, especially in:
Always carefully match the original passage. Do not randomly capitalise or convert capitals to small letters. During practice, slow down slightly whenever you see a capital letter coming next.
Extra or missing spaces are a very common reason for losing marks. Exams generally follow these principles:
While practising, keep your thumb movement consistent and avoid tapping spacebar unnecessarily when you feel nervous.
Missing or wrong punctuation can change the meaning of a sentence and is almost always counted as a full mistake.
During revision, quickly scan only punctuation marks while ignoring words. This helps you catch punctuation errors separately from spelling mistakes.
Hindi typing mistakes mostly occur in anusvaar (ं), matras and conjunct (half) letters.
Always practise with the same keyboard layout that is used in your real exam (Inscript, Remington, Kruti Dev, etc.) to avoid confusion in matras and conjuncts.
Steno Exam Master aims to follow the checking style of government exam boards:
This logic is updated according to the selected exam so that your practice result is as close as possible to the real evaluation.
These are some frequently used characters in Hindi typing. Exact key combinations may vary slightly with font and keyboard layout, so always confirm with your exam instructions.
| Character | Shortcut / Key method | Usage tip |
|---|---|---|
| । (Danda) | Windows Alt code: Alt + 2404 or dedicated key in exam software | Use at the end of every Hindi sentence instead of English full stop (.). |
| ॥ (Double danda) | Windows Alt code: Alt + 2405 | Occasionally used in headings or Sanskrit texts. Mostly seen in official book passages. |
| ं (Anusvaar) | Commonly: consonant + anusvaar key or Windows Alt code Alt + 2306 | For nasal sound (e.g. हिंदी, अंक). Do not replace with full “ङ” unless written so. |
| ् (Halant / Virama) | Dedicated halant key or Windows Alt code Alt + 2381 | Use to create half-letters in conjuncts (क्त, त्र, ज्ञ). Missing halant changes the word. |
| ः (Visarga) | Windows Alt code: Alt + 2307 | Mainly in Sanskrit-based words. If present in passage, typing it is compulsory. |
| ॐ (Om) | Windows Alt code: Alt + 2384 | Used in some official documents, religious references and logos. |
| ₹ (Rupee symbol) | Ctrl + Alt + 4 or Windows Alt code Alt + 8377 | Type exactly as shown in the passage for salary, fees or amount related texts. |
| ज्ञ, त्र, श्र | Consonant + halant (्) + second consonant (layout specific) | Practise these common conjuncts repeatedly to avoid spelling mistakes in Hindi dictations. |
Note: On many exam systems, special fonts (e.g. Kruti Dev) or specific Hindi layouts are used. Always practise on Steno Exam Master with the same keyboard option that your exam uses.
